Anahuvafen is a heartfelt initiative by a Maldivian family, born out of a deep love for books and a desire to celebrate all things literary.
The name Anahuvafen is inspired by the now-lost original "ana huvafen" Farihi - considered a pinnacle of Dhivehi oral poetry.

The original Farihi, later popularized in song form as "Nanahuvafen" by the renowned Dhivehi folk singer Naifaru Dhohokko, has an unknown author. Over time, various sources have attributed the poem to several prominent figures in Dhivehi folk literature, including Angainnubunaagey Kalhu’huththu, Sarooru Hokko, Bodu'fenvalhugey Seedhi, and even Hussain Salahuddeen.
We organize small book donation drives to support island schools, work to inspire a love of reading among the Dhivehi people, and share short articles that celebrate books, writers, and the written word. Our blog also features original writing from the Maldives, offering a platform for local voices to be heard.
